I found out that the SuSE folks track packages like subversion and keep them up-to-date.
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/apache/subversion/
..has been updated to 1.0.5. As Peter Poeml's message from last week states, make sure you pick up the latest apache and libapr0 packages from ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/apache too.
