Thanks. As it turned out, I had to install the apache2-devel package.
I'm using Mandrake 9.1. The apxs2 and httpd2 files are in /usr/sbin.
I ran ./configure --with-apr=/usr/sbin/apxs2 with apparent success.
Unfortunately, as so often happens with compiling code off the net, my
make fails because of errors in the source code. How do I fix someone
else's code? I'll post separately about that problem.
Would I be better off to remove the possibly oddball Mandrake Apache,
then compile and install the latest Apache from a tarball? Or am I just
opening myself up to more frustration?
