URL abbreviation?

From: Perry E. Metzger <perry_at_piermont.com>

My users find themselves typing

svn://svn/svn

over and over again all day. (That's the name of our repository on the
server I cleverly named "svn" to make it easy to remember.)

Any suggestions on how this could be abbreviated?

Failing good existing solutions, maybe a small feature to let you
specify a default repo in an environment variable or config file entry
would be cool? One would still need some sort of way of signaling
you're dealing with a URL (a leading : or @ or something?) but it
would save a lot of typing, and thus improve the impression of
usability.
