Sorry - no harshness intended. By "someone who knew what they were doing" I meant someone who (in contrast to myself) was familiar with the workings of libtool.

That reads a little more harshly than perhaps intended, but
regardless, I've already solicited some Solaris build testers for our
1.0.1 release so that we can ensure that the tarball works there.
