It's not just about moving the wc to a foreign box. It's about having a
"standard", compatible working copy.

What if your team is using TortoiseSVN with the "_svn" hack, and then
you discover that you need to use the commandline client to do something
fancy (TortoiseSVN doesn't have 100% coverage of commandline
functionality)...? Whoops, now you need to have a special commandline
client with the same hack.
