This really is marvellous fun :-) You are quite right (of course).. and I
accept fully what you say. I think my only remaining quibble, then, is that
the output of "svn update" didn't tell me that it had deleted my local
revision 1 of dir A. Thinking about it however, it is probably very
difficult to implement that, as it doesn't fit into any of the categories
shown in "svn status --help".

What a tough time you guys have. Sterling work though. Your responses and
work are all very much appreciated.
