svn: Reference to non-existent node '0.0.8' in filesystem '/foo/db'

hi,

so i've been dutifully beating on svn 0.37 and have been trying to
attach
to the hooks/post-commit point. i created my own script, and was testing
whether or not it got launched properly, when, alas! a commit failed.
ok,
edit script, try again, fail fail, finally, i removed said script
entirely,
and now i get this, with any svn ci/update/co on the repository*:

  % svn update
svn: Reference to non-existent node '0.0.8' in filesystem
'/newtsvnroot/db'

argh! can anyone help me with what happened? and how do i recover?

thanks!
bob
