Hmm, when I see those filenames it reminds me of a certain samba version
some time ago.
It had a bug that would cause file writes with W2K to create extra files
with names like that.
IIRC, it affected more win versions than just W2K, but that's the one I was
using.
In my case most of those extra files were empty.
