keyword substitution

Hi all,

I've got a question related to the keyword substitution in SVN.

Is it possible to restrict the substitution to substitute just a defined
number of chars?

We're working here with LabVIEW and this saves it's code as binaries.
The substitution works, though, but after that LabVIEW won't load these
files any more as suspected.

I've read somewhere that in CVS (or another version control system) it's
possible to do a keyword substitution and fill in a placeholder after
the keyword and restrict the substitution to replace just the
placeholders. By that keyword substitution could be used in many binary
files, but I haven't found a way to do that in SVN --- is there any way?
(If not this could be a nice feature... ;-)

Thanks,
        Carsten
