TortoiseSVN (the current version) seems to do a remove/delete operation when
you rename a file, instead of using Subversion's superior "move" command.
This is a shame, as it's one of the drawbacks with CVS that SVN was intended
to solve...
I'm having a hell of a time finding a fully working and usable integration
into the following IDEs :
- IntelliJ IDEA 4.0 (EAP)
- Visual Studio
OK, for the latter, there's AnkhSVN, but development seems to lag a fair bit
behind subversion itself, and Visual Studio.NET just is awful (you can
easily version a .NET project as long as you don't use VStudio, which
creates tons of crap for its own use, without which it just complains). For
IntelliJ idea, there's svnup which just causes IDEA 4 to throw exceptions,
and JSVN which compiles but doesn't appear to do anything.
I agree that IDE integration seems superficial: why not just version it
using the command line or tortoise or whatever? Well, IDEA does lots of
useful refactoring operations (that restructure your codebase, by moving
files and updating references)... it's a nightmare to do a refactor, then
make sure that these changes are thereafter correctly reflected in SVN's
working copy.
