Sun have different ideas about how to store long filenames than the rest of
the world.

I used gunzip to get the tar file, then tried to tar xvf it and got the
checksum error.

[exclude-file] [-I include-file] files ...
> which tar
/usr/bin/tar
WinZip on Windows seems to untar with no problems.

I am trying to install Subversion on Solaris SunOS 5.8 . There are no
precompiled packages available, so I downloaded the latest stable version
subversion-0.35.1.tar.gz . The first step after unpacking is to run
configure, but I think it's missing.

subversion-0.35.1/apr/configure
subversion-0.35.1/neon/configure
Is this an incomplete distribution, or am I supposed to download a different
version?
