localhost kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 11089 (httpd).

Several times(3) now I have seen the following error in the
/var/log/messages file.

Dec 10 15:42:23 localhost kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 11089
(httpd).

This error usually follows a period of svn responding very slowly if at all.
At times this kind of thing seems to lead to the repository getting wedged.

Since this is not a problem I can fix myself, I would like to know what I
can do in terms of system monitoring etc.. in order to catch this problem
when it starts to go south, rather than finding out when the repository
becomes wedged\unresponsive?

I am running 0.33.1 on RH9 with Apache 2.0.48, and I will be upgrading to
0.34 on RH Enterprise very soon.

Thanks,
Ryan
