Compile subversion 0.34.0 client only

Hi,

I'm trying to compile subversion 0.34.0 on redhat 9 (without update, apache
2.0.40). I need only client version of subversion. When I run ./configure,
I've got this error:
checking for Apache module support via DSO through APXS... found at
/usr/sbin/apxs
checking httpd version... configure: error: apache too old: mmn must be at
least 20020903

I've already tried : ./configure --without-apache, and ./configure
--disable-dso, but I've got the same error.

Howto compile subversion client only? Or It is possible to compile
subversion without an updated apache?

I think that subversion don't need apache to run the client library but I
can wrong thinking...

Florent G.,
