Okay, time for a sanity check. I untarred the file again, and *now* I notice
a "directory checksum error" message! Gaaaah. Curse Sun and their
incompatable tar. It only partially created the directory, leaving out the
configure script.

Well, now I'm back on track, I'll see if I can figure out how to make tar
work. Yeesh.
