An equivalent to "CVS Edit" ?

Hello svn users,

I have read a lot of the online docs and those installed with svn
on Windows 2000, and I have also seen that issue 533, 'implement
reserved checkouts' is scheduled for a post 1.0 release.

However, I find the "Reserved edit" command in my WinCVS client
to be especially helpful. It's not really a 'reserved checkout'
in the sense that tools like Visual SourceSafe and others mean it,
but it works fine. I can announce to others that I am editing a
file if they want to know, and I can find out if someone else has
issued a "cvs edit" command on a file I am interested in.

I am wondering if there is a similar command available in svn, or
if someone has implemented a workaround, perhaps by using
properties.

Thanks so much,
Paul
