Import timeout on Windows in 0.30

Hi !

I have seen some of the discussion on the list about "timeout
problems" with the Windows client when accessing a server.

I just want to report what happened to me while trying to "import" a
reasonably large tree of files ( 600MB / 11000 files) into my
Subversion server. I'm just evaluating Subversion for the moment so
its not critical for me right now, but I hope my description can be
of interest to those who try to understand the similar problems
reported earlier on the list.

My "svn import" terminated after 35 min. with a message

svn: MERGE request failed on '/svn/trunk'
svn: MERGE of '/svn/trunk': timed out waiting for server (http://...)

For a long time the transmission of files seemed to proceed
"normally", and I guess that all files actually were tranferred.

On the server side I now have a "db" directory with 1254 log files
and a "strings" file of about 640MB.

I'm running:

  - server:
     - Redhat Linux 9
     - Berkeley DB 4.0.14 (already installed, rpm says "db4-4.0.14-20")
     - Apache 2.0.47 built from source
     - Subversion 0.30 built from source

  - client:
     - Windows NT 4
     - Subversion client installed from "svn-0.30-setup.exe"

When doing an "import" on other small "toy projects" it seems to
work OK, both before and after the timeout incident, and both on
Linux and with the Windows client on NT.
