In general, anything that's a bad idea over NFS, is an even worse idea
over SMB/CIFS, which is far more chatty a protocol, and much less
resilient to network latency and interuptions than NFS.
(don't get me wrong, I think NFS is rather poor in the performance
category too, it's just SMB is even worse :)
