I know that it is old, but I had been using it for several months
without upgrading. And with a corrupt repository, I didn't dare
upgrading ...

Oh, and I also tried a 'svnadmin recover'. It seems to run OK, but the
checkout still fails:

[manitou:~] bsiegert% svnadmin recover svn/
Acquiring exclusive lock on repository db.
Recovery is running, please stand by...
Recovery completed.
The latest repos revision is 39.
[manitou:~] bsiegert% cd /tmp
[manitou:/tmp] bsiegert% svn co
file:///Users/bsiegert/svn/Studium/AAC_II/
svn: Invalid filesystem transaction name
svn: no transaction named `1e' in filesystem `/Users/bsiegert/svn/db'
