Thanks, Ron W, and Gavin Lambert, for the advice, and great first impression of the forum..

Ron W: All understood, many thanks for the step-by-step guide. About the IDE, oh, would that I could, make it forget folder names, but it insists, on storing the fullpath, for a certain few settings. Maybe, it might accept %foobars_place% style substitutions in the strings. I'll set aside some time to look into that..

Gavin Lambert: Yes, I'm looking forward, to exploring the diff-ing facilities, of Tortoise SVN. We seem also to have a web-based 'VISUALSVN SERVER' view of repositories, although I think that might just be viewing. Our repositories are hosted in Korea, with a local UK mirror, for speed. I'm not sure I can get to them though, on my laptop, if I'm out and about, but we'll see. Actually, in WinMerge, I quite often do dragging of code blocks, left and right, between project versions, and do live editing and programming within WinMerge, watching it live update to show my edits, it lets me focus on the edits I am making. But if the Tortoise SVN differ allows similar, then I may well move over to using that instead..

Ah, interesting what you say, about *not* changing to use C:\Foo\Bar\Current\. It's the sort of experienced insight I was hoping for. And I will look into %foobars_place% style substitution. And absolutely, it would be great if it built, anywhere..
