AW: Tortoise SVN

Or 3)
you want to use Subversion client on Linux.

Quick answers:
Tortoise Subversion is a Windows (only) client.
If the computer you work with runs Linux, get subversion for linux, which is available somewhere else, and use that.
Command line subversion works (AFAIK) identical on all platforms. GUI subversion not. (I don't use a subversion GUI on Linux)

If your subversion server is on Linux, that doesn't matter. You can use it from Windows just fine.

If your file server is Linux (serving windows shares) and you want to put your working copy there - you'd better forget it and have
everybody put their own working copies onto the local drive.

If your file server is Linux (serving windows shares) and you want to put your repositories onto the windows shares -- that is a bad idea as well.
A real subversion server is far more secure.

Prithi, could you please rephrase your question?

well, I am confused about you are actually asking 8-)

1) you have a repository on a linux server and want to check out a working copy to your workstation

or

2) you have a repository somewhere and want to checkout a working copy to a network share (situated on a linux server)
