Hi Erol,
If you let me do so, I may add something to the Hartmut's advise. With SVN you don't need to checkout/update the whole repository. If you create some folders according to the file types, the people who work with those files could checkout only the right directory.
Need to mix-up different types? I suggest to use some externals (https://tortoisesvn.net/docs/nightly/TortoiseSVN_en/tsvn-dug-externals.html). In the end you could have a directory for each type of work.
