Memory leak in the window "Check for modifications"

Hi,

We have observed a possible memory leak with the “Check for modifications” window.

Every time we click the “Refresh” button at the bottom of the window, the memory usage grows by almost the size it was after the first check.

It was reproduced with version 1.8.7 and 1.8.9.
