Ignore Mechanism -- quick question

Hello,
In the attached screenshot, the fact that I 'only' have an option to 'remove' a folder from the ignore list, means that this folder is 'definitely' going to be ignored and not committed onto the repository when I do a commit. Correct?
I selected 'recursively' to ensure that nothing in that folder is ever committed. Is this redundant?
