TortoiseSVN 1.8.6 repository browser slow

Not sure if anyone has a solution for this but I googled this without any solution.

I am using TortoiseSVN 1.8.6, Build 25419 - 32 Bit , 2014/04/12 11:40:48 on windows 7.

Previously we had TortoiseSVN TortoiseSVN-1.6.16.21511-win32.

With the new version when we tried to browse a repository it took 20+ seconds. The repository has two sub-directories.Once the directory panel on the left shows up, you can go to either one of them. The strange thing is that when clicked on one directory to expand it, it was fast. The other one when clicked it was hanging and it took a long time to expand.

Then I looked it further. In the slow sub-directory we have trunk/, tags/, and branches/. When click on each one it shows some stats as below:
   trunk/:showing 144 files and 30 folders, 174 items in total
   branches/: showing 0 files and 117 folders,117 iems in total
   tags/: showing 0 files and 87 folders, 87 items in tota;

It turns out tags/ is also slow. Once I am into tags/, clicking on anything inside it is fast.

I also tried on another reppository which was similar in size and it is fast.
