Yes, its behavior is changing based on what version of TortoiseSVN we are using :(

I will install a different svn client and see if is related to the different svn releases that were used between 1.8.4 and 1.8.5.

The AD integration is implemented by the VisualSVN people so you might have much better luck asking them for help.
