Recent messages after merging a range of revisions contain unexpected log entries

*What I did: *

Merged a range of three revisions from one branch (pre-prod) to working
copy of another branch (prod), using the show log function to select the
consecutive pre-prod revisions 18816, 18820, 18825.

Clicked commit the prod working copy, clicked Recent Messages, and
selected the first message "Merged revision(s) 18816-18825 from
branches/pre-prod:..."

*What I wanted to happen:*

The recent message should contain the commit log messages for selected
revisions only.

*What actually happened:*

The recent message contained all commit log messages from trunk and other
branches in repository that were in the range 18816-18825.
