TSVN (release) does nothing on commit

I recall using 1.8.2.(probably)24708 on my 32-bit Win7 without a hitch.
Yesterday I reinstalled with 64-bit, installed, and found it doing exactly NOTHING on attempt to commit. No commit dialog, no "no modifications" message, just nothing.

However, right now after installing, I find it working properly again.

Was there something significant fixed? I find it odd that a release would have a completely show-stopping bug, while a nightly would have it fixed...

It's working for me now - but might be worth another look.
