Pardon my ignorance, but why do you need to check for modifications before
upgrading your local repo? I haven't done the 1.8 upgrade yet, but I don't
recall needing to do that before upgrading to the 1.7 format. As I recall,
the 1.7 upgrade was limited only to the metadata files in the .svn
directories (now directory); local changes to the working copy were
preserved without issue. Have I missed some major problem with upgrading to
1.8? Can the 1.8 upgrade modify the working copy files themselves and not
just the hidden SVN metadata?
