Half of my repos do this since the upgrade, half of them don't.

Is this normal behavior, or is my computer some sort of special snowflake?
Will it be fixed at some point? What am I supposed to do in the meantime, not
commit anything for X weeks and email source code back and forth?

A litte warning about the instability of this release would have been nice,
like maybe "wait until version 1.8.1 if you use this in any sort of
professional capacity".
