Just to clarify, it is OK to access a working copy directory from
multiple OSes. The files are still just files. What you absolutely
must not do is use subversion clients from different OSes to act on
that working copy. The SVN metadata, and indeed the way different svn
clients treat things like line endings, differs and you can easily
mess up your working copy by doing that.

Core subversion could perhaps do more to protect itself here by
marking a working copy as being in Windows, Linux, Cygwin, Solaris or
whatever format and disallowing access by foreign clients. But that's
off topic for this list.
