You might want to start another thread with your specific issue... but general tips are:

1. Only check out at the level you need, don't check out the whole repository or project... just check out a single trunk or branch.

2. Disable any anti-virus on-access scanners on your development root.

3. Disable windows search indexing on your development root.

4. Ensure your working copies are on the PCs local file system and not a network path.

Other than the above, faster hard drives, SSD highly preferred.
