Just my two cents:
Laplink / PCMover should really be the ones fixing that mess for you.
They sell a product which does something inherently unsafe and which
leaves the machine in what should be an impossible state and what is
definitely, for a large amount of software, an unsupported state. It's
up to them to support that, especially as they're selling their tool
for money. They're making a profit by causing problems & costing
time/money for other developers.
