Yes I think I had to go all brutal on the installer.
I used the "Revo Uninstaller" to remove all occurrences of the 32Bit Tortoise installation then install the 64 bit version.

Sorry for resurrecting such an old post, but has any one found a solution to this dilemma? I recently had my system upgraded from XP 32-bit to Windows 7 64-bit using PCMover and now have exactly the situation you described.

Running the 32-bit uninstall with compatability settings resulted in the same message a before.

Any other suggestions short of starting over with a clean Windows 7 install and manually installing TortoiseSVN 64-bit?
