I see Paul apparently found the problem due to my crash dump, fixed it in trunk and nominated the fix for back port to 1.7.x so let's hope it make it through. Meanwhile as it seem to have been solved I moved on and merged the branch by revision instead, which works nop but glad I could be of help.

I will monitor the upstream issue, in case.
