Settings dialog->Dialogs 1->Misc group->Autoclose
set to "close manually"
That will make the progress dialog stay open.

Settings dialog->Saved Data->Action log group->Show
if you click that button, notepad opens with the last few commands
you've executed (the lines that the progress dialog shows).
Scroll down to the bottom and you can see what happened in the commit.
