TortoiseSVN 1.7.9, Build 23248 - 32 Bit , 2012/08/30 18:25:37

Subversion 1.7.6,

apr 1.4.6

apr-utils 1.3.12

neon 0.29.6

OpenSSL 1.0.1c 10 May 2012

zlib 1.2.7

Lenovo T500, 4GB mem

Synopsis: after installing subject version explorer and windows won't start.

I installed Subject version (upgrade from
TortoiseSVN-1.7.7.22907-win32-svn-1.7.5.msi).

During install, it asked for explorer, Outlook, and TortoiseSVN to be
closed.

I closed Tortoise and Outlook but not explorer.

I checked top box that did not say a reboot would be required.

New version installed fine so I did a restart.

Windows hung in "shutting down" screen.

After a few minutes, I held power button to shut it down.

I pressed power button and dos screen message said something like "bad
shutdown, recovering".

It then went to recovery screen.

I iterated several times, and wound up restoring to just before I installed
new version.

It shut down and rebooted fine.

I then tried to re-install Subject version but downloaded a new version of
TortoiseSVN-1.7.9.23248-win32-svn-1.7.6.msi just to make sure the file was
ok.

During install, it asked for explorer to be closed.

I checked box to install and require a reboot.

Installed with no errors but it did NOT force a reboot.

I did a restart manually.

Windows shut down but did not complete shutdown so after a few minutes, I
held power button to shutdown computer

I then pressed power button to restart computer.

Windows "flying window" screen (black with RGBY windows that fly in)
appeared and stayed for several minutes (maybe 10 or 20, I left the computer
to cook dinner) then the normal login prompt appeared.

I logged in but explorer never started.

I did CTRL-ALT-DELETE and got explorer not running error, then explorer
restarted.

I checked all the lists but didn't see anything about this so I am calling
it in to see if anyone else has seen this.

Lewis.
