On second thought, my externals are not from the same repository, so I
may be wrong about the intended behavior when the externals are indeed
from the same repository.

Nonetheless, I do still have problems with working-copy changes to
externals not appearing in the commit dialog (whether greyed-out or
not). I realize that without further detail there isn't much point in
stating as much, however =).
