TortoisSVN always updates working copy to HEAD revision before branhcing

Why?
I had a working copy of trunk, which was not updated to the latest revision (HEAD) for a reason.
I created a branch from my working copy, specifying a revision from which to copy into branch (let's name it OLD). I also checked the box to switch my working copy to that branch.
TortoiseSVN successfully created a branch (telling me it copied OLD revision from trunk), but it also forcefully updated my working copy to HEAD revision and actually used HEAD revision to create a branch.
Now I have HEAD revision mixed up with my local changes in the branch, though I specifically told TortioseSVN NOT to do it.
WTF? It seems like a serious bug to me.
