Overlay icons once again

Hi,
Something is wrong displaying the overlay icons. I've look all over the internet to find a fix, but nothing seems to work for me. It's driving me nuts...
I updated to version 1.7.6 and suddenly all overlay icons disappeared.(I'm using Windows 7) I've tried to re-install / repair many times, restarting my computer etc. But nothing works for me.
I found out that the icons are showing if I change the 'status cache' to shell. But that only gives the status of the file, not for parent folders...
Who may knows (and want to share) a suggestion or solution??
