Repository Browser does not show folder when user has no permission for parent folder

We have a path svn/users/ that is not readable. Instead, child folders like svn/users/johndoe are readable/writable by that user.
When we open the repository browser with the URL http://[server:port]/svn/, then the path svn/users/ does not show up, which is as expected. When entering the full URL, including svn/users/johndoe, the path is only updated in the URL box, but neither the folder list on the left nor the file list on the right show the folder.
Strangely, when starting the repository browser with the full URL, http://[server:port]/svn/users/johndoe, we get the expected result: the URL box shows the correct path, the folder list has this folder expanded and the file list shows its contents.
We think this is an issue in TortoiseSVN. Feel free to correct us or show a workaround. We noticed the issue in 1.7.4 and both 1.7.6 and the current nightly build still have it. We did not find a previous discussion of this problem in our search.
Kind regards,
