Icon overlay regression in 1.7.5?

Hello!

I am experiencing problems with the icon overlay in windows explorer.
It seems to work fine with 1.7.4 -- it worked before and now I reinstalled 1.7.4 and it looks good as well.
But in 1.7.5 the Tortoise-icons were displayed only in some directories.
Sometimes an action like "check for modifications" or "commit" on a directory triggered displaying the icons
for the files in it. (SVN update never did the job for me.)

This is Windows XP (32bit).

Is this a known problem? Can I help finding the cause?
