Version 1.7.4 crashes XP Explorer

Windows XP, latest everything
Tortoise HG 2.1.2
Tortoise SVN 1.72 or was it 1.71?
lots of compilers and tools installed
.net
SVN server 1.5.6

install, no issues
right click on folder, select check in...no response

Press Windows key + E to start windows explorer, watch explorer crash and restart.

Uninstall Tortoise, explorer works again...

install nightly build, same issue
Uninstall..Explorer works
