I'm not sure I really care for the new sparse checkout dialog at all.
I have a repo that's large, gigabytes of data large, and the old way of creating a sparse checkout with just the root element and then populating the repo "on-demand" using the repo browser was intuitive and easy and fast (as often you need to browse to where you think the required code is before you fetch it - using the repo browser this is easy as you've just found what you wanted. Using the new method is a PiTA because you effectively have to browse the repo twice).
Using the repo browser also means you don't need to keep track of what's already checked out.
Its a nice feature for initially populating a sparse checkout but afterwards, its not good at all. I'd like to see this functionality re-integrated into the repo browser properly, there's no need for 2 independent 'browse trees' for the same source.
