Problems with svn:external, TortoiseSVN 1.7.4

Hello everyone,
we encountered a problem with the svn externals (which is a really great feature of SVN!).
We use a 1.6 repository, but I think this shouldn't be a problem.
Ok, a short introduction. We are extensively using externals. Usually with with an explicitely set revision#.
The problem we encountered is, that svn doesn't checkout the externals with the correct revision#. If we do an additional SVN-Update, svn will update the externals to the correct revision#, but in 1.6 this was done correctly by checkouting the project.
