HELP - Please! Muliple svn processes running on server

Hi..

My system admin just called me and said he was paged 3 times last
night due to over 150 Subversion processes running on the server. Is
this normal? I can't find any information on it. I have 26
repositories and no one should be working in the middle of the night.
I am running Subversion 1.4.2 and all my users use Tortoise.
