TortoiseSVN connecting to random IP addresses?

Many times when I do an update or commit, my firewall pops up about
TortoiseSVN connecting to random unrelated external IP addresses. I can (and
typically do) block them, but it seems to use a different IP every time.

Now, I assume this has to do with validating the SSL certificate of the
repository server that I actually want to connect to. However, this server
has a self-signed certificate (it's LAN only anyway) and I rather not have
TortoiseSVN making these useless connections.

Two questions:

- Why is it using so many different IPs?

- Can I somehow disable the validation of SSL certificates in TSVN, or
'whitelist' my local server's self-signed certificate?

Thanks in advance!
