Updating to the TortoiseSVN-1.7.99.22036-dev-win32-svn-1.7.0-dev.msi,
the main problem disappeared. I cannot find any RC4 when going to
http://tortoisesvn.net/. There only RC1 is shown.

A suggestion, can you show a question when canceling an update to ask
if a clean up is wanted?
