Sorry to dig up an old thread but I'm having the same problem as the OP. I'm trying to install TortoiseSVN-1.6.16.21511-win32svn-1.6.17.msi in Windows 7 32-bit. It gets to 'Publishinh product information' and throws the an error. 'An error occured during the installation of assembly component {D72DDA45-EE3D-3264-ABD3-3A34626903F2}. HRESULT: 0x80070057.'
The attached file is a screenshot of the error dialog. I have done some searching and the error appears to primarily be a windows issue, but none of the workarounds seem to help.
