Then I'm just completely confused by your post. You've ostensibly seen
the FAQ entry which states that the root cause is a bug in certain
versions of SAMBA and what configuration changes are needed to work
around it. Are you asking for something *other* than this change
(which is known to work) to solve your problem? Did that configuration
change not fix things?
Placing WCs on network drives has been discouraged for as long as I
can remember. It may be possible (with some additional work), but a
local WC is always the most proper way to set yourself up.
