The download speed varies from 0KB/s to about >90KBs. It takes several
hours to download the archive. The error message was output and the
download terminated after >256 minutes and 32 seconds. Other than 256
being 2^8 I find no satisfaction in this episode.

Is there any way of getting a successful download in Windows? Is this
the cause of the error >message?

If you have two files with the same name (only differing in case) in the
same directory, you will not be able to complete a checkout on windows.
You must delete/rename one of the files. It's been a while since I have
run into this problem but I think your options are:
* Check the directory in question on a case sensitive file system and
fix the problem.
* Fix the problem using the repo browser (I am not 100% positive about
this one.)

I don't know if you can restart a checkout after fixing the problem.
